Issued on 12. June 1944. Original applied photo in tropical uniform. Awards: 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class, Minesweeper War Badge, and Wound Badge in Black. He received tropical clothing and equipment. Noted on page 12. Herbert Kownatzky served also aboard the U.-Jäger 2223 "Marangone". Both ships (Italian corvettes) were sunk. He became a prisoner of war in Genoa on 27.04.1945. Prisoner of war number A 751259. The swastikas were painted over with a purple pencil.
