Hauptmann Mies served as a Staffelkapitän with Sonderstaffel GS 1 and was also a pilot of the Messerschmitt Me 323 "Gigant". Deployed on the Eastern Front, Africa, and Riga.

The album comes with many aircraft photos and 3-4 shots of the military transport aircraft Me 323 "Gigant". Also some shots of downed aircraft and in some photos, the squadron emblem can be seen. Furthermore photos of the officers, a visit of General Kurt Student, a shot of Hanna Reitsch*, and photos of an interesting Luftwaffe machine gun training.
