Description

Two period time Luftwaffe photo albums to Obergefreiten Franz Prager serving with Sanitäts-Kompanie Luftwaffen-Feld-Division 7 / Sanitäts-Bereitschaft der Luftwaffe 4/VIII. Field post number L49480.

The albums also documents the military service of his brother Unteroffizier Sepp Schindler serving with a Sturzkampfgeschwader. Killed in action on 7. January 1944 in Warschau, Poland. Please note the brothers do not have the same last name. Based on the enclosed documents and the descriptions in the photo albums, everything is very well comprehensible.

The first album starts with nice portrait photos of Sepp Schindler. In the further course very interesting photos of his flight training. Nice to see soldiers in flying overalls, parachute jump training and photos in the cockpit. Fine lettered. Roughly 190 photographs. Green cover. Removed Luftwaffe eagle and lettered "Kriegserinnerungen" to the front of the cover.

The second album documents Franz's military service from June 1942 to February 1944 on the Eastern Front. Destroyed buildings, photos of an field operation, foreign POW, destroyed enemy tanks, graves of fallen comrades as well as a very nice group photo. The photo shows members of the Luftwaffe Felddivsion wearing the rare splinter camo smock. The last pages are again dedicated to his brother Sepp. Period time death card, portrait photo, field post, telegram about his death. Everything glued into the album. Fine lettered. Roughly 153 photographs. Green cover. Attached small aircraft and lettered "Kriegserinnerungen" to the front of the cover.

One "Heldentod" (Hero's Death) certificate to Uffz. Franz Schindler. Issued on 7.1.1944. Folded.

Furthermore two period time newspaper cuttings and one large size death notice to Franz Schindler.

Total: roughly 343 photographs
