Description
Important grouping to Knight's Cross recipient Feldwebel Alois Gugganig serving with 4. Gebirgs-Division. Gugganic served as a "Heeresbergführer" and graduated at the "Heeres-Hochgebirgsschule" at Fulpmes in 1942. He was killed in action on 7.1.1944.

Gugganig was awarded the Knight's Cross on 4.3.1943, the Infantry Assault Badge, the Iron Cross 1st Class, Iron Cross 2nd Class, War Merit Cross 2nd Class, Wound Badge in black, the Rumanian anti Communism medal as well as the "Heeresbergführerabzeichen" (see notes on page 21, 23, 38).

The Wehrpaß part of this grouping is a 6.1.1944 issued second issue example. On page 46 it says, that his original Wehrpaß was destroyed "durch Feineinwirkung". Second issue documents were quite common during the war.  It comes with many interesting notes on his service time such as a list of his campaigns and battles and an original attached photograph.

Wehrstammbuch with identical notes as in the Wehrpaß including a note that he was killed in auction on 7.1.1944.

Original foldable death notice showing a photo of him wearing the "Heeresbergführerabzeichen" and the Knight's Cross. The most impressive death card we have had in the past.

There are quite a few interesting period time documents providing additional information on his service time such as a letter sent with his Iron Cross 2nd Class and the certificate in May 1942. It says that the Iron Cross was awarded to him for bravery during the battles of Mrasovac and Bijela-Voda. There is another letter sent from Oberst Suschnig, his regiment commander, congratulating as well. It comes with an original ink signature.

There is a letter of congratulations sent from Major Dr. Süssmilch congratulating him being awarded the Knight's Cross.

There is an official printed "Ehrenliste des Deutschen Heeres" mentioning Gugganig as being awarded the Knight's Cross as well as the "Heeres-Verordnungsblatt" mentioning him being killed in action as a Knight's Cross winner.

There is a letter of congratulations to the Knight's Cross sent from the "Deutscher Alpenverein" as well as a time table for the "Kameradschaftsabend" at Bad Gastein welcome Gugganig in his home town for a Knight's Cross celebration.

Finally, there is a 14.1.1944 dated letter sent from Oberst Ludwig Hörl to Gugganig's father explaining that his son was killed in action.

A very important and extremely rare grouping for a Heeresbergführer awarded the Knight's Cross.
