Description
This lot was part of a huge grouping consigned by the family of former NSDAP Abschnittsleiter Leander Berger in April 2015. The family is still based in Austria today. Leander Berger was a high ranking NSDAP and DAF leader during the Third Reich and was punished after the war. Leander was one of the first Nazis in Austria in the early 1930s when the Party was still banned there. His NSDAP membership number was 83.215. Berger escaped to Germany and served as Gauhauptstellenwalter der DAF (Gau Thüringen) from 1934 until 1939 before he returned to Austria serving as Gaustellenleiter der NSDAP in Kärnten. He was promoted to a Reichseinsatzredner der RPL by Dr. Goebbels in 1944.
Large lot of important documents, certificate, IDs and photos to Abschnittsleiter der NSDAP Leander Berger. NSDAP number: 83.215.
Several promotion documents sent from the NSDAP Gauleiter. The last promotion document is 24.2.1944 dated and was signed by NSDAP Gauleiter of Klagenfurt Friedrich Rainer. He promoted Berger from a Hauptgemeinschaftsleiter der NSDAP to a Abschnittsleiter der NSDAP.
There are three more promotion document signed by Friedrich Rainer. Two are signed by Oberdienstleiter der NSDAP Friedrich Thimel (stellvertretender Gauleiter). One is signed by Kreisleiter and later stellvertretender Gauleiter Dr. Karl Pachneck. There are several letters sent from high ranking political leaders. All with original signatures. All documents are orders or promotions. Due to his high rank and position, all documents can be considered as very important to the regional NSDAP and DAF history.
There are documents about his service time as in Weimar in 1935 at the DAF Gauwaltung Thüringen. A 1939 dated report about his service time at the Gauwaltung Thüringen provides great details on this service time: He served as Sozialreferent in der Sozialabteilung, Leiter der Abteilung Sozial, Unterabteilungswalter der Abteilung Schulung and Schulungsleiter bei der Gauschule Georgenthal der DAF from 1934 until 1939. Another document proofs he served as Gauhauptstellenwalter der DAF - Gau Thüringen.
One letter comes with a quite interest letter head: DER REICHSKOMMISSAR FÜR DIE WIEDERVEREINIGUNG ÖSTERREICHS MIT DEM DEUTSCHEN REICH.
One 20.4.1944 document comes in its original envelope "Durch Deutsche Dienstpost Adria" addressed to Berger as "Leiter des Amtes Betriebsarbeit beim Obersten Kommissar i.d.O.Z.A.K." based in Trieste. Berger was promoted to a REICHSEINSATZREDNER DER RPL by Dr. Goebbels as it says. The letter is signed by the Reichsamtsleiter and is NSDAP - Reichspropagandaleistung - Reichsleitung stamped.
There are at least 28 documents with an impressive letter head (very often embossed printed) and original signatures inside a folder. Of course many many more other documents.

- Certificate to the Austria Medal. Issued to Berger on 23.6.1939. (not folded)
- Color ANERKENNUNG certificate issued to "Parteigenosse Leander Berger" on 9.11.1938. (not folded)
- Certificate to Wound Badge in black (WW1) to Kreisobmann der DAF Herr Leander Berger on 18.7.1940
- Certificate to the Westwall Medal issue to Pg. (Parteigenosse) Berger on 21.3.1945 (!). (not folded). A are FÜHRER-HAUPTQUARTIER issue!
- Certificate to the Hindenburg Cross with swords. Issued to Kreisobmann der DAF Leander Berger on 5.7.1940
- ERNENNUNGSURKUNDE certificate which promoted Berger to a Kreisrat des Landkreises St.Veit an der Glan. (not folded).
IDs:
- Hilfsbund der Deutsch-Österreicher. Leander Berger served as Gebietsleiter des Gebietes Mitteldeutschland.
- October 1944 dated ID "Amt Betriebsarbeit" issued by the "Der Oberste Kommissar in der Operationszone ADRIATISCHES KÜSTENLAND". Stamped. In original folder. Reverse: Italien ID 1945 dated.
- July 1945 dated postwar certificate of Residence

- DRUCHLAßSCHEIN - Der Chef der Zivilverwaltung für die besetzten Gebiete Kärntens und Karins. Stamped. 1942 issued.
There is another folder which was set up by Berger. It contains many IDs, tickets, documents, cards, newspaper bits, KdF menu cards and tickets and even a PANZERSCHIFF DEUTSCHLAND cap talley etc.. It is like a time machine through his DAF and NSDAP service time. He seemed to have kept everything he could!
