Two rare photo albums of General der Panzertruppe Walter Fries. 

Photo album # 1 consists of 137 photos

It documents the campaign in Itlay from June 1943 to November 1943. The album was given to him on Christmas 1943 by the Kartenstelle ("map office") of the 29. Panzergrenadier-Division. Very nice photos of Generalfeldmarschall Kesselring, General Hube, General Herr, and excellent shots of Generalmajor Fries himself. Furthermore photos of the funeral of Oberstleutnant Georg von Stünzner (Knight's Cross winner) and excellent photos of the Knight's Cross awards to Oberst Krüger and Oberst Ulich. 

Photo album # 2 consists of 59 photos and 1 postcard

The album begins with two portrait photos showing him as a young officer in the First World War. This is followed by some photos from the period of the Frist World War until the outbreak of the Second World War. In the further course, excellent photos show him as a General and Knight's Cross winner. There are also shots of other generals and Knight's Cross winners such as Generalfeldmarschall Kesselring and Generaloberst von Arnim. Furthermore photos of two Knight's Cross award ceremonies. One shows the award to Hauptmann Helmut Meitzel in July 1944. Two photos of a funeral of an officer of the Panzertruppe and Knight's Cross winner. Taken in Rome in February/March 1944 (hand-written notes on the back of the photos). 

Among them is a photo of his Oak Leaves award ceremony. It was taken on 7. March 1944 at Obersalzberg and shows General Fries together with Adolf Hitler (hand-written notes on the back of the photo).
