4 chain links of the golden collar chain with swords of the Ducal Saxe-Ernestine House Order, silver gilded and enameled.

Unsurpassed craftmanship. The links are hollow made. The crown assembly and those containing the letters consists of separately affixed parts. Very minimal enamel chips. Untouched original piece with grown patina with fully preserved gilding.

Ralf Kirmse describes the chain of the Saxe-Ernestine House Order in his standard work "Der Sachsen-Ernestinische Hausorden" in volume 1 on page 241 as one of the most beautiful collars ever.

It is not known how many chains have been forgiven. The collar is not a separate grade of the order and was initially reserved for the heads of the order, only. However, it should be clear that the decorations were awarded almost exclusively in the high nobility and only in exceptional cases to deserving personalities, including Paul v. Hindenburg and Otto v. Bismarck.
