Prussian artillery lion's head sabre with etched blade


Description

The sabre comes with a double-sided etched blade showing military motifs and ornaments. It also features the portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm II and on the other side, the Prussian eagle with the lettering "MIT GOTT FÜR KAISER UND REICH". Maker marked (difficult to read). Stains on both sides.

A ray-skin finished wooden handle with wire wrapping. Damaged. Brass hilt fittings with lion's head pommel. The langet shows crossed guns and on the other side the initials of the recipient. 

Black finished steel scabbard which is free of dents. "9.T.2.43" stamped (Schleswig-Holsteinisches Train-Bataillon Nr. 9). The throat is missing.
