Honor Cross 1st Class of the German Red Cross, 1922 - 1934

Description

This 1st class cross is made from gilded bronze and enamel.

The honor Cross of the German Red Cross was issued in two classes by resolution of the general meeting on April 28, 1922. The 1st class as a neck cross and the 2nd class on the ribbon or on the lady's bow. The cross was awarded as the highest honor of the national associations and provincial associations for special services to the cause of the Red Cross. The awards were presented by the President of the DRK from 1926 under the patronage of the Reich President. The best-known manufacturers were Godet & Sohn, JH Werner and P. Meybauer. All located in Berlin. The crosses are very rare due to the short awarding period and the economical situation at the time.
