Description

Photo album and Wehrpass to the Stalingrad combatant Leutnant Alois Weber serving with 11. Jägerkompanie, Infanterie-Regiment 15. Weber was killed in action on 14.9.1942 in Stalingrad. Due to his rank, it is very likely he served as platoon or even as company leader in Stalingrad.

In 1942 the regiment was deployed in the southern area of the Eastern Front. Here it fought at Orel and Charkow, on the Don West of Woronesh, then West of Stalingrad and in Stalingrad central. The regiment was encircled with the 6. Armee in Stalingrad and found in February 1943 at Betekowka, on the southern district of the city, the downfall.

Wehpass issued on 29.10.1937. Original applied photography. Awards: Heer Long Service Award 4th Class, 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class, Sudetenland Medal with "Prager Burg", Infantry Assault Badge in silver, Wound Badge in black and gold. Furthermore two early awards "Dienstabzeichen l.M.G". Noted on page 21 and 22.

His units are listed on page 12. He was involved in the early campaigns in Poland, France and Belgium. From 22.6.1941 until 14.9.1942 in Russia. The last entry in his campaign list is from 14.9.1942 "gefallen 10./ I.R. 15 Stalingrad/Russland" (fallen 10. I.R. 15 Stalingrad/Russia). Please note also the entry "13.-16.9.1939 Säuberungsaktion in den Wäldern ostw. Konskie" (13.-16.9.1939 "clean-up operation" in the woods eastward Konskie).

The album comes with roughly 127 photos and documents mainly his military education. No shots of the front. Green cover with a Heer eagle and lettering "11. Jägerkompanie Inf-Rgt. 15". The photos of the first page were removed.
