4th Class cross of the Bavarian Order of St. Michael made by the famous Munich juweller Gebrüder Hemmerle.
Fine quality cross in perfect condition made from silver and blue enamel. "G.H. 980" marked between the cross arms.
Size: 38mm x38mm. Including a very long original ribbon (25 cm).

The Bavarian Order of St.Michael was instituted in 1837. The 4th Class without crown followed in 1910 and only 505 examples were ever awarded. This order had to be returned to the King after the death of the recipient which explains that only a very few have survived.
