Hauptmann Scheffler was killed in action together with General Willibald Freiherr von Langermann und Erlencamp on 3. October 1942 at Storoshewoje ("in a foray in the front line"). In addition four "long" hand-written letters from Oberst Heidenkämper to his family. Dated "October 1942".
