Very rare grouping of an Franco-Prussian War veteran to Gefreiter Friedrich Bruns serving with 9. Kompanie of 3.Westfälischen Infanterie Regiment Nr. 16. Bruns was born in 1849 and was 21 years of age when he fought against France. He was promoted a Gefreiter on 24.4.1871 and awarded the 1870 Iron Cross 2nd Class as well as the 1870/71 Franco-Prussian Campaign Medal.

Personal 1870 Iron Cross 2nd Class with 25 years Jubilee Clasp. Original black paint to the iron core. Silver frame. Three part construction. Jubilee Clasp hollow constructed with all prongs in place.

Well worn Militärpaß (Military identity card) issued on 4. October 1869. The Militärpaß contains all important information on his service time and is the best source of research you can think of. His awards on page 9 for example: Iron Cross 2nd Class, Kriegsdenkmünze 1870/1871. Page 10 show a list of his battles during Franco-Prussian War 1870-1871. Complete with all pages however one hole to the center. Some pages loose. A very rare historical document.

Furthermore, there is a handwritten letter dating back to 1872.
